Is Love Strong Enough to Save the World AND the Underworld?

If I’d known I’d be riding a death lord’s horse around the Isla Huesos Cemetery, swinging a whip at people possessed by Furies, I probably wouldn’t have chosen to wear a dress.  But things never seemed to work out as I planned.  Pg 310

When I saw this book on Net Galley, I was so excited to request and read it. Meg Cabot’s twist on the Greek myth of Persephone and Hades is so clever and addicting, I read the book from start to finish…in one sitting! In books 1 and 2 we meet John Hayden and Pierce Oliviera, a young couple who journey through the Underworld together and fall hopelessly in love. It’s not easy loving John; he has the endless task of ferrying souls though the Underworld. Pierce follows him willingly, although life underground can be dark and demanding for a seventeen-year-old girl.

In Awaken, John and Pierce must deal with the endless onslaught of the Furies who are angry and upset at John because he broke the rules and brought back to life a human soul. Problems arise when the Furies damage the boats that ferry the dead, causing unrest and panic on the docks. Pierce gets involved, much to John’s dismay, and goes above ground in search of new ships. As she investigates the situation, unexpected details surface, and the closer Pierce comes to the truth, the closer she is to dying. So, is love strong enough to save the world AND the Underworld? You’ll have to read the series to find out.

I LOVED LOVED LOVED this book, and although I’m sad the series is over, Meg Cabot ended it perfectly. The love story between John and Pierce keeps you turning pages, cheering them on. I give Awaken 5 stars for its sweet love story and original plot.

Endless is a Winner!

Book title: Endless
Author: Jessica Shirvington
Publisher: Sourcebooks Fire

Endless, a Violet Eden Chapters #4, is a book I could not wait to read. Due to the highly addicting plotline and memorable characters, I dove into Endless and could not put it down.  The sizzling chemistry between Violet and Lincoln reaches new heights, and redefines the boundaries of love and sacrifice. Bad boy Phoenix does not disappoint, and his persistence makes things extremely interesting.  Author Jessica Shirvington knows just how to hook a reader and hold them captive until the very last page.

On that note, the last page came way too fast for me, and left me scrambling for a date and title of the next book in the series. Yes, Endless is a major cliffhanger, and you can bet that readers will be hounding Ms. Shirvington to release book 5 as soon as possible. I give this book 5 stars for it’s angelic characters and unforgettable love story.

Honey and spice and all things dangerous are nice  This book is dangerously addicting, and I highly recommend it!

Brain Power

Are you a "Lefty" or a "Righty"
I'm a righty, with a splash of lefty on top! Both sides of your brain need to work together for you to be a balanced, successful person. If one side is dominate- use your strengths to help you in areas where you are weak. I want to use this picture for an art focus... possibly after we finish Zentangles.  :0)

On September 11, 2001, 19 militants associated with the Islamic extremist group al-Qaeda hijacked four airliners and carried out suicide attacks against targets in the United States. Two of the planes were flown into the towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, a third plane hit the Pentagon just outside Washington, D.C., and the fourth plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. Often referred to as 9/11, the attacks resulted in extensive death and destruction, triggering major U.S. initiatives to combat terrorism and defining the presidency of George W. Bush. Over 3,000 people were killed during the attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C., including more than 400 police officers and firefighters.
